In the precinct, we wish to create an exclusive destination wedding venue incorporating the Tithe Barn, Darcy House (part of), Abbotts Lodgings and The Chapel; with a Gazebo overlooking the 1920’s Lily Pond for outside weddings.

The offering must be exceptional to ensure that St Osyth Priory stands out as the perfect place to hold a wedding or civil ceremony amongst these magical historic surrounds. To support this use, a number of bedroom suites are required to provide accommodation for wedding guests, as it is likely they will travel long distances to attend the weddings.

Subject to the necessary consents, the Gatehouse Ranges would be re-ordered to allow use as family suites that could be utilised by the wedding couple and their families can stay in these magnificent Medieval buildings. It is the intension that the Gatehouse would still function as two separate dwellings, as it does now but that the internal re-ordering would make it more suitable for short term use, with an exclusive wedding suite in the central section of the Gatehouse.

Subject to the necessary consents, there will be some further new build accommodation on site replacing modern unhistorical buildings, in a manner more sympathetic to the historic surroundings.  Due to the high quality of the accommodation they will successfully draw guests from far and wide. Our research has shown that this has also proven essential at other estates that run very successful wedding operations.  When not in use for weddings these suites would be available for use for overnight accommodation to those people not wishing to take one of the larger and unique properties that are to be located around the Estate.
