We will be setting up training courses in Traditional Building Skills at St Osyth Priory in partnership with Essex County Council.

This bursary scheme is delivered by leading craftsman and experts in their fields, and is aimed at conservation and building professionals, contractors, general builders, the owners and managers of historic buildings and sites, as well as interested amateurs and enthusiasts.

The one, two and three day hands-on courses are helping to raise awareness of the importance of the protection of historic buildings and the most appropriate methods and techniques to conserve them.

Courses are available in traditional brickwork repairs, timber frame repairs, lime mortar and conservation brickwork, lime plaster for beginners and run mouldings.

If this is of interest to you - do get in contact.

“I’ve worked as a bricklayer for years and recently moved into more heritage based work and I wanted to upskill. I never thought I would get back into training, but I strongly believe that you’re never too old to learn new skills and these types of courses are invaluable.”
Ian Fisher, Attendee of a Tradition Building Skills Course
